The method has been increasingly adopted by many developing countries in recent years specially in the field of infrastructure development. With the intention of introducing BOT scheme to Iranian legal community, this article analyzes salient aspects of the
scheme rather from a legal point of view. Accordingly, after a brief description of the BOT approach and its potential advantages to the host gevernment, i have outlined the main phases in a typical BOT project, followed by a review of the participants and contracts involved. Some legal - practical issues helping a better understanding of the BOT approach are dealth with at the end.
