Abstract

Although the research on river boundaries seems to have 'a very narrow scope, by a little more attention to the subject, the
widespread and different dimensions of it will be clearly
understood. Despite applying the methods of delimitation by states, a deep and analytical reasearch on them seems to be necessary in respect of law and the existance of practical difficulties. The historical survey and the consideration of the
existed cases indicate the different application of methods for them, especially and more famous, are the "median line" for non ¬
navigable rivers and "the Thalweg" for the navigable ones.
Of course behind of the each method exists the specific philosophy of its own; some of them based on justice and some based on imposition and oppresion.
However, apart from that, the existance of practical difficulties as well as the consideration of advantages and disadvantages of each method lead us to find another and suitable meothod for
tnese rivers.
