Abstract

One of the main concerns of women's movement in the west is

to extend the politics of movement in to cognitive fields especially in the academia. Different disciplines including International Relations (IR) have been influenced by this movement. Feminists assert that the IR has been dominated by men and masculinist values and it has neglected "gender question" and its implications on international relations. On the basis of the way feminism, women's problematique, the movement's causes, etc. are
conceptualized by various brands of feminism, different feminisms
have challenged meta theoretical and theoretical foundations of this field of study. This article attempts to introduce feminist challenge in IR. It first discusses the significance of social movements' function as knowledge-producers. Then it reviews different feminist views on human knowledge and social sciences. Finally its main challenges against the IR and some of its acadmic
achievement will be discussed and evaluated.
